Recently we went away for a weekend and I got an opportunity to visit the Koanga Gardens in Kaiwaka which is a retail outlet for the Koanga Institute. Check them out at:

I really love the concept of seed saving and heirloom seeds and have a number of seeds to put into our garden.

Stay tuned for progress on Yellow Stuffer Tomato, Rosso Raddicchio, Bobs Beans, Lacinato Kale, Borecole and Kowiniwini Potato!

Try something new today, buy something organic, make something from scratch, try a new fruit or vegetable.
Thoughts on Michael Pollan
I love what Michael Pollan said about food:
“Eat food. Not too much. Mostly plants”
To further clarify eat “real” food not food like substances. I know as a cook that produces family meals it can be really hard to get a meal on the table, that most people in the family will eat, let alone one that is based on real food rather than convenience items. Try not to feel overwhelmed, make small changes, start today and make one thing from scratch.

This is beautifully and succintly put. If only more people ‘got it’ about food. I always laugh when I watch food being advertised on tv. Any food that needs to be advertised must have something seriously wrong with it! Keep up the good work of spreading the word.

Thanks for the feedback.
It’s a revolution (or a return to food) that has to be started by those of us who provide meals for the people that we care about. It’s not always easy but we have to try!
I’ll keep spreading the word even if nobody is listening, so it’s good to hear somebody is.
